Pension Payments on the death of a Spouse

Has anyone any information or comments on the benefits provided on the death of a spouse with regard to various pension schemes in Japan or beyond?

I'm not 100% sure on this but I think there is no widow benefit for the foreign spouse of Brits paying into UK pension on a voluntary basis from abroad.
