Wills and Inheritance in Japan
In 2014 I finally got around to writing a Will, something I had been meaning to do for years. In the process of doing so, I found out something that shocked me: in Japan, foreign residents DO NOT come under Japanese inheritance law. Instead, their affairs are handled according to their country of nationality.

Especially if you have dependents, please make sure you have a valid Will. I can only imagine the horror of having to navigate two bureaucratic systems at the same time, while waiting to get control of necessary assets.
