Re: Ray Dalio Nikkei interview “ more inflation and higher gold prices”

100% agree.

Global central banks are all targeting inflation of 2% or thereabouts each year. That’s an ongoing devaluation of those monies, whichever one you pick.

Re: NISA a bad idea for mortgage holders?

It really depends on your circumstances - the article author is saying that it’s better for most people to not invest in risky assets, but not all. I don’t really agree with him when looking at it from a long term view. If your investment horizon is more than 10 years, then the historical record is ...

My kids have accounts with Monex, it’s possible.

Re: iDeCo Robo Advisor Portfolio at MONEX...yay or nay?

I have some BNDX and not happy about the JGBs in there but it’s small enough in the bigger scheme of my portfolio that I overlook it. I also looked at myindex.jp and yes believe the data presented suggests one ought to have some gold. I think the top portfolios there (from my perspective) had like 2...

Re: Yen falling like a stone

Or just invest in low cost diversified index funds and ignore the noise. Much less stress, quite likely better results. As a speculator on the side myself, I 100% agree. Speculation is not something for everyone, and many do lose rather than win. Even smart financial analysts I have seen swore off ...

Re: Yen falling like a stone

Guys, last Friday the yen acted like the world was coming to an end, and I suspect it could weaken further given the BOJ said nothing to support the yen following its meeting. The Ministry of Finance is responsible for the currency, apparently (it’s all wacky to me, since the BOJ’s policies obvious...

Re: Does it make sense to continue with the same strategy with this JPY/USD rate?

If I were in the business of say, air transport, I’d probably be wanting to hedge against adverse movements in the price of jet fuel. And let the speculators try to make money on price movements of jet fuel, and provide me with a liquid market for jet fuel. In my case with my investments, I’m not re...

Re: Does it make sense to continue with the same strategy with this JPY/USD rate?

I think assuming BoJ won't change policy is far too optimistic...... Just the timing is uncertain. Policy change yes - indeed they have already made policy changes under Ueda. But even if they scrap YCC, and NIRP, will they still maintain a loose monetary policy posture? I think they absolutely wil...
