Also, the first subsidy was based on comparison to 2019. But how much did they change those criteria? Comparing to last year when everything was already hell doesn't make much sense.

There are still options. Personally I didn't manage to qualify to ichijishienkin one because it's meant for B2C companies. I am currently applying to 0% interest loan from here:

It's a Japanese friend who taught me about it. I met with the banker he was really helping me to make the application work, and I should hear soon if I am getting the loan. Apparently it's more an issue of how much they can lend at this point.

The news media have been reporting that the government is going to offer more relief to Covid-hit businesses. It's the 持続化給付金 that gave out up to one million yen last year, or two million if you are incorporated. It sounds like it will be half that this year if your sales are under 100 million yen.
