It's probably worth it if you are going to spend more than about 3M a year, because then you'll get 60k points, minus the 33k fee = 27k, more than the 15k you'd get on gold. But yeah, that's quite a lot of spending.

It's the only way to transact without a third party, so is the biggest on privacy. I also suspect that small businesses have quite a bigger overhead for card payments, hence why some of them are cash only or require a minimum spend.

Yep, definitely cash is more private than cards. I guess if you are spending money on stuff you don't want other people to know about, cash is king. :twisted:

I've had my JAL card (Club-A Gold) blocked on the actual JAL website so I have you beat there.

The reality is that its some voodoo between VISA/Master/JCB and the issuing bank that dictate what to block/when to block and having a branded card used on the merchant itself doesn't change any of that.
